It may come as a surprise that Porsche's first single-marque racing series did not feature the company's flagship 911, but rather, the front-engined 944 Turbo. The 944 Turbo Cup series debuted in 1986 as a support event for German Group C races, and would continue through the end of the 1980s. New from Spark is a limited-edition 1:43-scale resin replica of the 1988 944 Turbo Cup "VIP car," assigned to German rally ace Armin Schwarz. This beautifully crafted model car features accurate Shell livery and signature "phone-dial" wheels, but perhaps even more interesting is the car's highly detailed cockpit, which includes an expertly rendered roll cage, shoulder harnesses and fire bottle.
